DESCRIPTION:Bus Trip to tour The Nethercutt Museum and Collection on 4/27/2024 \nNethercutt Collection \n \nPlease click on the above link to explore all the sights\, sounds\, and spectacular collections at the Nethercutt Museum in Sylmar\, CA. The founders of Merle Norman cosmetics built these buildings and filled\ntheme with antiquities from all over the world\, the finest automobiles and large\, wind-powered musical\ninstruments including pipe organs which are demonstrated during the tour of the facility. We will also be\ntaken through the restoration shops\, multi-floored auto displays\, and collections of things musical instrument-related and car components. \nWe are taking a Sun Diego Tour Bus with driver\, as we did in 2018\, leaving from the lower Fallbrook Library Parking lot at 8:00 AM Saturday 4/27. \nSeating is limited to first-come\, first-serve reservations as we must get 50 people to pay for the expense\nof the bus. Without 50\, we cannot make the trip. So early registration is important. Other local car\nclubs will be able to register for the trip after Friday\, March 8. FVCC members\, families\, neighbors\, and\nguests need to be registered and paid for my Thursday March 7. Kathy and Dana will be providing\n“entertainment” on both legs of the trip. DESCRIPTION:Once again the Fallbrook Vintage Car Club will take over the corner of Main Street and Fig Street (Village Smog) showing off some of our beautiful cars\, selling club merchandise and extending a welcome to thousands of visitors that pass through our display. The club has participated in this event since the early 90’s\nand attracted many friends and new members. It will be the initial showing and sale of our beautiful poster for 2024\, in continuous car show production since 1985. \nWe invite members to bring their special automobiles to display. Please contact Steve Shapiro at sshap@sbcglobal.net\, include your name and what automobile you will be bringing. There will be plenty of shade\, cold water\, and great conversation for all. \nAutomobiles must be in place by 8:00 am and need to remain on site until about 4:30. Members will be free to visit the festival and/or leave the area as long as they return by 4:00. The cars are looked after by devoted club members that remain on site all day. However\, due to the need to keep all of our cars secure\, please be certain to have another member watch your car to avoid any visitor issues. \nWe have room for about 20 cars\, first come first served. We would appreciate some early birds to help us setup for the event at 7 am. \nWe will display our cars at the Village Smog property\, Main and Fig. Enter the property from South Mission\, East on Fig to Main Ave. \nOur Merchandise Committee also needs your help at the sales booth. Please contact Gloria Andrews at andrewsglor@hotmail.com if you can help for a couple of hours in the morning or after. \nThe proceeds from both the Avocado Festival and the Car Show go back to the community to support nonprofits like youth sports\, area beautification\, and other community-based programs.\nThis is an important event for the club and a great chance for all to be involved!

SUMMARY:Tour Pendleton Mechanized Museum
DESCRIPTION:Assemble at 8:50 AM \nWe will meet at 8:50 AM on Ammunition Road along\nthe curb adjacent the Albertsons parking lot (west side of\nMission\, north side of Ammunition). We will collect a list\nof names and cars of the drivers at the time we lineup on\nAmmunition Rd for the sponsor to use at the gate. We\nencourage vintage cars to show them off on base. \nWe will need one military retiree with access to the base to sponsor us through the gate. Please let Doug know\nthat you can be the sponsor.  \nWe will use the Ammunition Road gate. The tour\, with a tour leader\,\nwill start at 10 AM at the USMC Mechanized Museum. The tour will\ntake around 1 to 1 ½ hours. We will be able to explore on our own\nafter the tour. \nFrom their website: https://www.themech.org/ \nOverview \nOrdinary military vehicle museums are usually cold and sterile\, comprised of vehicles that haven’t turned a wheel or track in many years. The Mech is not your ordinary collection. The\nmajority of our tanks and trucks can roar into ground shaking life! The collection\, started in 2002\, is run by MGySgt\n(Ret) James King. Along with a small cadre of volunteers and financed largely by donations\, it is one of the few armored warfare collections in the world dedicated to not only preserving historic military vehicles\, but also putting\nthem back into working order. The tanks and trucks are regularly cranked into life and used for displays and ceremonies aboard Camp Pendleton. Jim King believes that our vehicles are something that visitors can relate to when\nthey are more than just a chunk of iron sitting on a concrete pad. Managed under the auspices of Camp Pendleton’s Museum Division Office\, the collection of over 50 vehicles ranges from World War I to the first Gulf War. It includes Patton tanks\, armored wheeled and tracked vehicles\, trucks\, jeeps and amphibious vehicles. The vehicles were all transferred from the USMC\, or acquired by the collection from numerous storage facilities. A few have survived stints on live-firing ranges or rescued from duty as metal monuments. Other machines\, such as the M50 Ontos\, bear scars from action with the enemy at Hue City. The collection building itself is an important piece of Base history\, as it was the terminal building for the railroads that serviced the base shortly after its purchase in 1942. Many a Marine arrived at Camp Pendleton at this terminal to begin their training for WWII and Korean War battlefields
